Finally as I go live with this new website I want to thank a new friend who without his help this website would not be possible. His name is George Pomar. If anyone needs help in designing and getting a super duper website up and running this guy can do it. Thank you George. Shoot me an email and I will get you in contact with him.
Just a quick background on me, very quick :) When I was 18 my dad wanted me to take over the family photography business that he had owned and operated for over 30 years in W.V.. I was his only son and he had cancer and was dying. So sorta with a guilt trip I studied under him and learned photography. I had assisted him on many weddings at such a young age I can't even remember for sure but I believe I was like 10 years old when I first started.
Back then studios crossed all spectrums of photography shooting everything from passport, oil paintings, commercial, model, portraits, weddings and etc. I consider my dad a master photographer. Anyway, I ran the studio for around six years. But in the early days police departments did not have CSI units like they do today so they used mostly may dad for their photography needs. Police officers were always at our house and I always wanted to be a policeman. After six years I closed the studio and became a police officer.
Now today after being in law enforcement for nearly 28 years I am retiring and obviously have opened a photography business, The Edge In PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY. I am entirely specializing in wedding photography.
In the past I have been to many photography conventions, been a member of the Professional Photographers of WV, Associate member in the Professional Photographers of Ohio and also a member of the Professional Photographers of America. I'm a current member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. I read and study the current photography literature as it pertains to weddings. Just to name an example of the great photographers I have had the pleasure to have met and learned from at various seminars are Rocky Gunn, Monte Zucker, Artorio Martinez, Marcus Bell and even Jacksonville's own Rick Ferro. I am currently assigned to the (CSU) Crime Scene Unit where photography is a major part of the tasks I perform. I am also a trainer in the unit. A little side note, why the department did not label us as CSI is beyond me.
I'm participating in the drop program with the police department I work for and have to leave employment soon as a requirement of the drop program. Therefore I can only accept a certain number of wedding assignments so as to be able to dedicate the proper time to each profession.
My goal this year is to put together a portfolio and obtain awesome samples from the weddings I photograph. I absolutely love photographing weddings and often get carried away with the emotion created during a wedding. I want to convey those feelings back into the photographs. I am also offering my services during this year at unbelievable pricing beginning at $995.00.
I apogize for rambling on but this really is my first true blog so bear with me.
I invite and hope that you will return for more rambling ons.
Thank you,
Ray
P.S. the photograph displayed was the camera I used years ago to photograph weddings, I still have it too.
